Thursday Thirteen: 13 Brothers I Adore

Isn’t the relationship between brothers special? Well, maybe that’s my romantic side talking, but brotherly love is truly awesome and since my current work-in-progress regards the story of two brothers, I thought it would be fun to blog on my very first Thursday 13 topic about brothers! So here’s a list of 13 brothers I adore. (Yes, I'm little early, but I have to post when I can.) These brothers may be real or they may be characters in a movie or television show. They may not even necessarily be famous. Can you guess which brothers are real, which are based on movies and or television shows, and which ones are famous? Can you guess what they do?

  1. Sam and Dean

  1. The Jonas Brothers

  1. Daniel and Michael

  1. Luke, Owen and Andrew Wilson

  1. Ben and Casey Affleck

  1. The Wayans Brothers

  1. Blues Brothers

  1. Coen Brothers

  1. The Baldwin Brothers

  1. Farrelly Brothers

  1. Frasier and Niles

  1. Eddie and Alex Van Halen

  1. My dad and his brother Emmett. Sorry, couldn’t find photo for this one.

It Never Fails...

I spend a ton of money on a cat bed, and Riley still chooses my suitcase.

As soon as Riley leaves, Calypso is on it.

Sandra Brown

Though I've never met her, Sandra Brown seems like such a charming lady. She's got that Texas drawl and Southern charm. Oh to have a cup of tea with her and chit chat about writing would be a dream come true. Of course, I'd fumble with words because I'd be so awestruck.

I now have my copy of Smoke Screen, and it is absolutely gorgeous! The book is phenomenal even before opening the pages because the cover is amazing. After opening the pages…well, I get sucked in like I do every Sandra Brown novel!

Seriously, I can't explain the cover. It's silky, like papyrus, but not thick and the colors...the texture...the entire design is breathtaking.

I'm going on a trip this weekend, and it'll take 4 long hours just to get there. Dear hubby is driving, which means I get to settle back, relax, and read Smoke Screen! I should have it read by the weekend. Thank God reading in the car doesn't make me sick!

I respect Sandra Brown and love her writing because she puts out one a year, and I always look forward to the end of the summer because of her book release. She doesn't rush, she doesn't have ghostwriters and she doesn't try to go with the trend of say, oh-I better-write- in-this-genre-because-that's-what-is-popular. Her thrillers have romances, though not always we're going-to-be-together-forever romances. Still, they are always happy endings.

And her books always make me happy, because I love her way with words.

My Adventures

August has been a good month for me so far. I started the weekend having lunch (and pie!) with a Miranda whom I email all the time but rarely get to see. If you visit her blog, you'll see the fun we had! Yesterday I learned that I was one of the winners of SMOKE SCREEN, Sandra Brown's upcoming book. She is my favorite author of all time! I pre-ordered her book, of course, but now I'll have a special one! (Of course, her books are all special to me.) I blogged about her a few years back when I was blogging about the greatest influences in my writing life. Besides my mom, she was mentioned, so I look forward to receiving the book. (And check out her contest page if you want a chance to win!)

I'm also the Texas ARF Author of the Month. That stands for Texas Authors' of Romantic Fiction. And...it looks like Texas might get some rain. I'm looking forward to that!

(More exciting things going on, but that's my little secret for now!)
